Within Survey of Market Absorption of New Multifamily Units (SOMA)

Data

Data collected for SOMA is based on new construction of multifamily units (buildings with 5 or more units).  The initial 3-month interview collects information on amenities, rent or sales price levels, number of units, type of building, and the number of units taken off the market (absorbed). Field representatives conduct subsequent interviews, if necessary, at 6, 9, and 12 months after completion.


SOMA API
The Census Bureau’s Application Programming Interface (API) allows users to create custom queries. Users can embed these statistics into web or mobile apps.
SOMA Data Tables
Stats displayed in columns and rows with title, ID, notes, sources and release date. Many tables are in downloadable XLS, CVS and PDF file formats.
SOMA Data Tool
Interactive applications, created by the Census Bureau, to help you customize, and even visualize, statistics from multiple censuses, surveys, and programs.
