Business and Owner Demographic Characteristics Data

Data on this page includes the Survey of Business Owners (SBO) spanning every five years from 1992 to 2012; the Annual Survey of Entrepreneurs (ASE) spanning 2014 – 2016, the ongoing Nonemployer Statistics by Demographics (NES-D) currently spanning 2017-2018 with 2019 data to be released this spring, and the ongoing Annual Business Survey (ABS) currently spanning 2017-2020, with first look data recently release for 2021.

Annual Business Survey (ABS) Data

Nonemployer Statistics by Demographics (NES-D) Data

Provides estimates on economic and demographic characteristics for nonemployer businesses and business owners by sex, ethnicity, race, and veteran status.
Annual Survey of Entrepreneurs (ASE) Data

The ASE provides annual data on select economic and demographic characteristics of employer businesses and their owners by sex, ethnicity, race, and veteran.
Survey of Business Owners and Self-Employed Persons (SBO) Data
