The Census Bureau releases the official income and poverty report each year in September. Also released at this time is the Supplemental Poverty Measure (SPM). Both are based on the Annual Social and Economic Supplement to the Current Population Survey (CPS ASEC) from the previous calendar year.
Additional poverty estimates from the American Community Survey (ACS), Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP), Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates Program (SAIPE), and Historical Censuses are released on varying timeframes.
