Transparency promotes accountability by providing the public with information about what their government is doing.
In accordance with the Open Government Directive of 2009 and the Freedom of Information Act of 2016, the Census Bureau operates under a presumption of openness, sharing information with the public about our programs and projects.
You can find a lot of useful publicly available information at census.gov. However, if the information you want is not already publicly available, you can submit a FOIA request either through FOIAonline.gov or census.efoia@census.gov.
Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. Sec. 552, allows any individual or organization access to government records through a FOIA request.
