Capital Expenditures for the Annual Integrated Economic Survey

Capital Expenditures for the Annual Integrated Economic Survey

The Annual Integrated Economic Survey (AIES) is a cross-sector multi-purpose survey designed to provide key statistics on the U.S. economy, while reducing respondent burden and streamlining Census Bureau operations. It replaces and integrates seven annual business surveys into one survey. Capital expenditures (CapEx) data was previously collected and published in two of the replaced surveys, the Annual Capital Expenditures Survey (ACES) and the Annual Survey of Manufactures (ASM). The AIES consolidates the collection of CapEx data but maintains publication levels from the prior programs. The estimates for the nonmanufacturing sectors are published at a 3- or 4-digit North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) level, and the estimates for the manufacturing sector are published at the 6-digit NAICS for the U.S. totals and the 4-digit NAICS for the state totals.
