TIGER/Line Geodatabases are spatial extracts from the Census Bureau’s Master Address File/Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) System for use with geographic information systems (GIS) software. These files include a variety of national and state-based geodatabases for geographic boundaries and features.
These files do not include demographic data, but they contain geographic entity codes that can be linked to the Census Bureau’s demographic data, available on data.census.gov.
Further details of the geographic boundaries and features can be found in the TIGER/Line Shapefiles technical documentation.
The 2025 vintage includes a new Current Suffixed Blocks Geodatabase. This database contains 2020 and current block information as well as suffixes indicating blocks that have been split since 2020. The 2025 congressional district and state legislative district geodatabases are derived from representations of the 119th Congressional District and 2024 State Legislative District plans as submitted by the states to the U.S. Census Bureau. The Congressional District and State Legislative district plans are generally updated every 2 years.
