Does the American Housing Survey (AHS) collect region data?

Not directly, but it can be calculated using the Census Division variable. In the AHS Table Creator the Census Division column variable includes data for all 9 divisions for all available years. Per the AHS Codebook, the variable DIVISION can be used to calculate the four Census Region totals by summing the columns as follows: Northeast - New England, Middle Atlantic Midwest - East North Central, West North Central South - South Atlantic, East South Central, West South Central West - Mountain, Pacific

Note that the DIVISION variable is only available from the National PUF and National tables in the AHS Table Creator. It is not available at the metropolitan area level for disclosure reasons.

The Public Use File Geography: 2015 to 2023 document best describes geographies available on the AHS Public Use File (PUF).
