Volume I, Counties and State Economic Areas, is one of the four principal reports presenting the results of the 1950 Census of Agriculture, and is published in 34 parts.
Statistics for counties include number of farms, acreage, value, and farm operators; farms by size, by color and tenure of operator; facilities and equipment, farm labor, and farm expenditures; livestock and livestock products; specified crops harvested; farms and farm characteristics for commercial farms; farms classified by value of farm products sold, by type of farm, and by economic class; and value of products sold by source.
Statistics for state economic areas include farms and farm characteristics by size of farm, by tenure of operator, by type of farm, and by economic class.
Census statistics date back to 1790 and reflect the growth and change of the United States. Past census reports contain some terms that today’s readers may consider obsolete and inappropriate. As part of our goal to be open and transparent with the public, we are improving access to all Census Bureau original publications and statistics, which serve as a guide to the nation's history.
