In 2020, assets (cash and investments) for State- and Locally-Administered Defined Benefit public pensions systems totaled $4.6 trillion, an increase from the 2019 level of $4.4 trillion. Cash and hort-term investments increased 14.8 percent in market value, from $123.4 billion in 2019 to $141.6 billion in 2020.
