Abstract

A method is outlined for developing guidelines for acceptable use of three-year estimates rather than five-year estimates for areas with more than 65,000 total population in the American Community Survey (ACS). The method is based on the coefficents of variation of the estimates and is an application of the method outlined in Ikeda (2008). It is applied to estimates from the 2005-2007 ACS and the results are presented.
