2020 Census: Renters

Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau attempts to count everyone in the United States on April 1 regardless of their living situation.

Renters are considered a historically undercounted population, given many of them are young and mobile, multicultural, or low-income. They can also be hard to reach due to physical barriers.

Responses from the renter community will provide reliable data to inform advocates, policymakers, and researchers working on issues such as housing assistance, infrastructure and building development, and public transportation.

This press kit provides tools and resources to support coverage of the 2020 Census and outreach to renters.
