Foreign Born; Citizenship; Year of Entry; Nativity - New Tables

• There is a new Detailed Table (B05012PR) available in order to publish nativity information for more geographies in Puerto Rico.

• Year of naturalization was added to the ACS questionnaire in 2008, and is now available in the ACS 5-year estimates in table B05011.

Children; Household Relationship

• Due to modification of the relationship to householder question in 2008, 2012 marks the first year in which five years of data are available for certain relationship categories. Tables B09018, B09019, and B09020 are now available in the ACS 5-year estimates.

Grandparents; Grandchildren

• Due to modifications to the disability questions in 2008, table B10052 is now available in the ACS 5-year estimates.

Household Type; Family Type; Subfamilies

• Due to modifications in the relationship to householder question in 2008, table B11017 is now available in the ACS 5-year estimates.

Marital Status

• Due to the addition of marital history questions to the ACS in 2008, marital history tables B12501, B12502, B12503, B12504, B12505, B99122, B99123, B99124, B99125, B99126, S1251, GCT1251, GCT1252, GCT1253, S1001, and GCT1254 are now available in the ACS 5-year estimates. We posted one table shell, B12501, as an example.

School Enrollment

• New iteration tables, B14007A-I, are now available in the 5-year estimates for school enrollment. We posted one table shell, B14007A, as an example.

Educational Attainment

• Since 2012 is the first time the detailed education attainment levels are available for the 5-year estimates, table B15003 is now available.

Disability

• Due to a modification to the disability questions in the ACS in 2008, tables for SNAP receipt crossed by disability, veteran status crossed by disability, labor force crossed by disability, and subject tables including disability are now available in the 5-year estimates. These tables include B22010, C21007, C23023, S1811, and S2701. We posted one table shell, B22010, as an example.

• Disability tables B18101, B18102, B18103, B18104, B18105, B18106, B18107, B18101A-I, B18135, B18140, B99181, B99182, B99183, B99184, B99185, B99186, B99187, C18108, C18120, C18121, C18130, C18131, S1810, and S1811 are now available in the ACS 5-year estimates. We posted one table shell, B18101, as an example.

Veteran Status

• Due to the addition of questions on service-connected disability in the ACS in 2008, table B21100 is now available in the ACS 5-year estimates.

Health Insurance

• There are two new Detailed Tables (B27022 and B27023) for health insurance coverage status and private health insurance by sex by enrollment status for young adults aged 19 to 25.

• As the first year of ACS health insurance data was in 2008, 2012 is the first year for which 5-year data are available. The 5-year tables in which health insurance estimates are now available are S2701, B27001, C27001A-C27001I, B27002, B27003, C27004-C27010, B27011, C27012, B27015, C27016, B27019, B27020, B992701-B992709, and GCT2701 and GCT2702. We posted one table shell, B27001, as an example.

Data Profile

• Tables DP02, DP02PR, and DP03 have been expanded to include health insurance and disability estimates. We posted one table shell, DP02, as an example.

Geography

• Addition of two new summary levels (410 & 430) for Urban Areas for the 2012 ACS 5-year Estimates.

Foreign Born; Citizenship; Year of Entry; Nativity

• The term "Linguistically isolated households" has been changed to "Households with no one age 14 and over who speaks English only or speaks English ‘very well’ " in Subject Tables S0501, S0502, S0503, S0504, S0505, and S0506. We posted one table shell, S0501, as an example of this change.

• A new place of birth code "463" has been assigned to South Sudan for table B05006.

• Revisions to the Detailed Table B05006 have been made to reflect the resolution of ex-Yugoslavia nations' statehood. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, and Macedonia are shown on their own lines. However, Yugoslavia is no longer shown in Table B05006; instead, it is included in the category "Other Eastern Europe."

• "Year of Entry" and "Year of Naturalization" categories have been shifted from "2000 or later" to "2010 or later" as highest category, from "1990 to 1999" to "2000 to 2009" for the second highest category, and other categories have been shifted accordingly. The tables affected are B05005, B05005PR, B05007, B05008, B05011, DP02, DP02PR, S0502, S0502PR, S0503, S0504, S0505, S0506, S2601A, S2601APR, and S2601B. We posted one table shell, B05005, as an example of this change.

Housing

• The distribution of "Year Structure Built" and/or "Year Householder Moved Into Unit" has been changed from "2005 or later" to "2010 or later" for tables B25026, B25038, B25109, B25110, B25113, B25114, B25128, B25034, B25036, B25107, B25108, B25111, B25112, B25126, DP04, and S2502 in order for data users to have access to more timely and useful estimates. We posted one table shell, B25026, as an example of this change.

Sample Size and Data Quality

• Group Quarters Synthetic Interview Count has been added as a line in Detailed Table B98002.

Children; Household Relationship

• Detailed Tables B09006, B09016, and B09017 have been deleted since tables B09018, B09019, and B09020 use the most up-to-date relationship categories based on questionnaire changes in 2008.

School Enrollment

• Iteration tables C14007A-I have been deleted.
