The Census Bureau has produced tables on geographic mobility since 1947. Since their inception, these tables have undergone several revisions. The 2023 table package includes a few minor updates from 2022.
Table 11 on Metropolitan Mobility no longer includes some characteristics. The Table 11 supplement Table 11-S includes all characteristics no longer included in Table 11, some with categories collapsed or reduced. Similarly, Table 12 on Metropolitan Mobility among Employed Civilians no longer includes race and Hispanic origin, but this characteristic is included in its supplement Table 12-S.
The one-year geographic mobility table titles now include “in the Past Year” for improved clarity.
Several table notes were also revised for clarity, with clarified information including:
Suppression of estimates within the reason for move tables (in the 13 or 14 series) was updated from 2022, with some additions to existing suppressions, and updates to suppression methods used.
