Physical Characteristics of Housing: 2009-2011

Introduction
This report presents data on basic physical and structural characteristics of the total housing inventory at the national level and for metropolitan statistical areas (metro areas) based on the 2009–2011 American Community Survey (ACS) 3-year estimates.1 The report will examine types of housing structures, newer and older houses, and the size of the houses measured by the number of rooms.
