The Occupational Outlook Handbook by the Bureau of Labor Statistics has the following: Quick Facts: Pharmacists

  • How to Become a Pharmacist Pharmacists must have a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.), a 4-year professional degree. They must also be licensed, which requires passing two exams.
  • Pay The median annual wage for pharmacists was $128,710 in May 2020.
  • Job Outlook Employment of pharmacists is projected to decline 2 percent from 2020 to 2030. Despite declining employment, about 11,300 openings for pharmacists are projected each year, on average, over the decade. All of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to other occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.”
