The migration question wording changed in 2004. Before 2004, it asked about residence on March 1 of the previous year. As of 2004, it asked about residence one year ago. While this update is not expected to affect migration estimates in appreciable ways, data users are encouraged to be aware of this change when comparing estimates for 2004 and later with pre-2004 estimates.
