While the AHS does collect vacancy status, as shown in the Housing Unit Characteristics table and ‘Occupancy/Vacancy Status’ column variable, the most current data on vacancy rates are available from the Housing Vacancy Survey (HVS). HVS also collects current homeownership rates.
