Census of Manufactures: 1947 — Volume II: Statistics by Industry
A compilation of general and product statistics for manufacturing industries and of materials consumed and metal-working operations data for selected industries.
The data provided for the United States, Divisions, and States are classified by number of establishments; number of employees; production and related workers; value added by manufacture; cost of materials, fuels, electricity, and contract work; value for products shipped; and expenditures for new plant and equipment.

A Note on Language
Census statistics date back to 1790 and reflect the growth and change of the United States. Past census reports contain some terms that today’s readers may consider obsolete and inappropriate.
